Keys for the City
May 21 - September 17, 2010
Music For Everyone presents a city-wide, 24/7 exhibit in partnership with Society of Design, Mayor's Office of Special Events (M.O.O.S.E.), and the City of Lancaster. Stop by one of the twenty pianos this summer and help us fill the streets with music. The project kicks off with a concert in Lancaster Square (100 block of North Queen Street) during the Music Friday festivities on May 21, 2010.
MFE and the Mayor's Office of Special Events (M.O.O.S.E.) are working together to pump up the volume in the city throughout the summer. New this year will be the addition of food and beverage vendors set up near the main stage in Lancaster Square along North Queen Street. Great music on the main stage and at many other restaurants, bars, and retailers. Performances from 5:30-8:30 p.m. with free admission.
Grant Awards
May 7, 2010
Music For Everyone has reached the $110,000 mark in grants awarded since 2006. This year's grants totaled more than $35,000 and will benefit twenty-two schools and other non-profit organizations. The awards ceremony took place during First Friday activities and featured several performances, including those by grant recipients Heads Up and Washington Elementary School.
Washington Elementary and King Elementary students are the first to benefit from a newly-formed relationship between Music For Everyone and the Pennsylvania Academy of Music (PAM). MFE's relationships with music teachers at city schools are being connected to the teaching talents of PAM's faculty and students. The mentoring sessions will reach a crescendo with a public performance in the Academy's Steinman Performance Hall on Saturday, May 22, 2010.
